Tenants Association News

At our September meeting, Ed Martelle and Bill Mykel from the Gloversville Firefighters Association, Local 719, gave a short presentation on the association’s fund drive to support community activities in Gloversville and raffled off two “Gloversville Firefighters Fan Club” t-shirts. There will be a sign-up sheet
posted on the bulletin board next to the Community Room for anyone wishing to
purchase a t-shirt to support the fund drive. The cost is $15 for a t-shirt and they come in sizes S to 2XL. The winners of the free t-shirts were Alma Frederick and Donna Groves. Money can be be given to Joyce or Maggie and is due by the 18th .

Charlie Potter will be returning with “Soup with the Supervisor-Second Helpings” on November 2nd a n d h e will be accompanied by Assemblyman Mark Butler, Sheriff Richard Giardino, and District Attorney Chad W. Brown.

They will be discussing safety issues that are very important for senior citizens in today’s environment.The tentative menu is Minestrone Soup, Beef&Barley Soup and bread from Rauch Bakery. Sign-up sheets and further information
be posted later on the bulletin boards as the date approaches.

Congratulations to Charlie and Kayla Potter on the marriage on September 9th . We are looking forward to meeting the new couple.

Our fall Rummage Sale will be coming up in October. Volunteers are needed for setup before and cleanup after the sale. If you can free-up and hour or two of your time, your help will be greatly be appreciated, and will make for a
successful sale. More information and sign-up sheets will be forthcoming prior to the sale. The sale is scheduled for October 14th (Didn’t want to interfere with Bacon Jam on the 7th ).

The monthly board meeting for GHA will be on September 19th , 6;00pm. at the DeBois office. All interested tenants are encouraged to attend. Contact our As soc i a t ion Officers for transportation coordination to West Street.

A special election is being held for the position of Tenant Commissioner on the GHA board as a result of the resignation of Bernie Manzer. Nominating petitions will be available for pickup on Monday, September 18th at the offices at Kingsboro Towers and Forest Hills Towers. Further details can be found on the flyer that GHA distributed in the building that was dated September 11th . The election will be held on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 14th from 9:00 am TO 3:20 pm in your development office. Voting will be by secret ballot and will be supervised by Mr. Towne, Interim Executive Director, and Ms. Lizio, Account Clerk.

Maggie Anderson from our building is seeking the nomination to run and be elected to the position of Resident Commissioner. It is extremely important that all of the residents of Kingsboro Towers get behind our candidate. We need to keep the position of Resident Commissioner here at Kingsboro Towers. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact Maggie or any officer of the Tenant’s Association.

Music Jam will also be returning this month. It is scheduled for the second Thursday of every month at 6:00 pm in the Community Room. Everyone is encouraged to attend and enjoy the music.
