October Tower Talk
On Monday (Oct 2nd), we had a presentation by D e e R o e m e r from the Office for the Aging. W e w e r e informed t h a t open enrollment for Medicare will be from October 15 t h to December 7th for anyone that wants to change
their plans or review their plans and it will become effective on January 1st
We were also informed that everyone who is on Medicare will be receiving new cards next year. The new cards will not contain your social security number. We
were reminded that if someone calls you asking for your Medicare number, don’t give it out unless it’s someone you really trust with this information. Currently, your Medicare number is your social security number but will be changing to a mixture of numbers and letters so if your card is lost or stolen, no one will have access to your social security number.
It is anticipated that the new cards will start to be issued in April 2018. Please remain patient since this is a process and will take time to issue all of the new cards. Please be on the lookout for mail from your current insurance carrier for any changes to your current plan that will become effective on January 1st. If you have any questions, please
feel free to contact the Office for the Aging. Dee also informed us of various upcoming activities
